Nimrod is right. A crappie in the bottom of my boat is up to a $1000 fine per fish and loss of license. I've seen 100's of 'em in my nets, but can honestly say that not the 1st one has hit my ice chest. Them Ops' that Nimrod and other commercial guys net out of the lake every winter is some crappie eating fools. Ya'll thank Nimrod every time ya'll pull a limit outta there. He's one of the reasons you can.
i got a friend here that thought he wanted to get a hoop net for us to catch some buffalo to eat and had me call for the commercial regs. i did. i got the regs in a few days from the woodypeckerwood people and i read and i re-read and i've got a 3rd grade education and i couldn't tell heads or tails from whether we could set one out here or not. so we haven't bought a hoop net. and i thought my 3rd grade education was good to go but it didn't get me there.
I am not on a campaign to do anything---I am just replying to a thread where these things were being discussed by other guys. Everyone has an opinion as I said before---I have mine also----you fish your way and I will fish my way--The name Backwater means exactly that--where I fish we do not see many people---many are scared to fish there and those that attempt to fish there gets lost and they have to spend the night with Big Foot and the Gators and wait until daylight and than they still need someone to show them how to get out.
We know the bayou's pretty good and about every stump.-----
I have nothing against a man fishing for sport or making a living--My dad did it after WWII or we would have starved.
Apparently some of you guys never ran into a man with 150 YO_YO's and claim they belong to him and four buddies--but he is the only one that runs them.----GW caught him those.
I really would like to have some of those 2 lb. Crappie you caught in them there hoop nets.
Bass lures are outlawed in my boat--along with any bass---I take a shotgun to them when I catch one.
Pocket knifes is out of style --I carry a couple of machetes in my boat.

The one gentleman is correct about processed fish and wildlife in a permanent home and a freezer----The GW kicked my brothers door down over an issue.
The law---One thing I did learn if you are fishing with a buddy and one of you is close to the limit---fish have to be separate by individual--etc--baskets or stringers--If you are the owner of the stringer it can not exceed the limit on the stringer or in the basket.---I have never ask about a live well where everyone throw them in.---Any ruling on that if you are the boat owner---My brother got a ticket cause his two sons had their catch on his stringer and he was over the limit---GW told him--different stringers for each person.

Pointing fingers is the reason nothing works,I don't care if your allowed 100's of yoyo's or poles.A limit is a limit nomatter whats allowed to catch them or if you fish everday or once a year.I don't care if you keep a net full or sale them to whoever,we have fishcops to take care of those.They are always asking for your help in controling our wildlife if you see somethings thats againest the law.
My point wasn't poniting fingers at each other as to how to limit fishing eqt.,control our fishing,it was meant for the unseen problems in days to come.
Why did lake charles give up,why didn't they try someting different,maybe 10 truck loads of bowfins would have solved the problem.Point is they give up on controling the crappie as to how they were going about it.
Maybe when the snakeheads takes over the crappie will become monters or ruts or the flying carp will starve them to death by eating its foods.
It was interesting to see all the thoughts tho.....
Game Fish – Alligator gar, black bass, white bass, striped bass, hybrid striped bass, crappie, catfish, trout, bream, sunfish, goggle-eye, walleye, northern pike, muskellunge, sauger, saugeye, paddlefish and pickerels. Catfish and paddlefish are considered commercial fish if taken with commercial tackle.:confused:

I found the above in the gerenal regs,is there more to its meaning in the rule book?
I seen where you commercial fisherman said you were afraid to get caught dead with a game fish in your boats.Does the above mean you can keep all game fish and sale to the public?Heck man if so I'mm getting into commercial fishing,with gas prices I'd be interested in buying also.
Like I said,limits of 20 and size want work for all lakes and be posted in being so.The game and fish lakes can be controled in that matter however there needs to a way to control the oxbows and backwaters that game and does not control as which ones to control on limits and size.
For several years now crappie fishing has is becomeing number one in fish being taken out of our waters.Bass has done a good job at trying to keep their sport alive and will.It looks as tho us crappie fisherman all we want to do is break your eqt.,shake our fist at the guy on the bank or cut our tires.
What wll our grandkids of kids think of us when ruts is all they catch and will never know what its like to kill a bear with a knive.
Catfish and paddlefish are the only fish we can sale off the above list. And to sale paddlefish, you have to have a special commercial license that cost a little more than a regular commercial license. We can have bream/sunfish/goggle-eye in the boat, but only for bait.Quote:

I fished it when they were filling it up,fished off the top of the barn,climbed the big pecan tree to dive off,fished off the hwy that runs across out from the dam.
If managed right any lake can be buildit back to life,we may have to suffer a little while its being done.After the draw down in the fall for the duck hunter why not leave it that way for several months.Sow the lake bottom,let it grow until around july,fill it back up,draw it back down for the duck hunter.Do the same thing again next year....atleast try someting different as to what has and been done.Unless we start hallowering for something to done we will have to go along with life with as is.Want get no better and in cases worse guess us crappie fisherman are misfits in the fishing world.To do repect to the guys that builds crappie homes and brush piles it helps to draw crappie in to feed in that spot plus in suppling more food for them.That along in alot of lakes is not good enough to supply our fishing needs and theirs in the days to come.
You will hear more of "used to" in other lakes too.
They changed that rule in 2008 to no length maximum. Section 41.11, subsection 4 in the book. I got a line out right now on Conway with some 7/0's on it that I'm putting 1 lb bream on. It's doing pretty good.Quote:
