Nimrod, to protect these fish saying they may help keep crappie from over populating is admirable, however if he went to that lake and caught 4 crappie and 25 bowfins, I would come to the conclusion that they controlled the population of crappie way to well. The predatory nature of this fish leaves it with no natural predator to controll it's population. We as fisherman are it's only threat, if we don't deal with them in a aggressive manner what keeps them from over populating a body of water as small as he described. These fish are super aggresive, they ain't picky about what they eat either, if it swims it is fair game for them. So my opinion is still not swayed about these fish, dispose of every one you catch for the well being of the body of water a person fishes.
