Default trolling crankbait and jig combination help

Been looking for some information on how to rig up a combination crankbait, like a bandit or shad rap with a jig or grub trailing it on a leader. I have not attempted this yet because I figure it will just tangle up. I have heard of folks fishing this method so there must be a proper way to rig it. Maybe a three way swivel is the answer.

We have been catching limits of white bass trolling cranks lately but I think if you use that crank bait to get that jig into the strike zone it would be deadly.

I am going to research the C.com archives.

You should find some info in the archives. I wrote in the Ark forum last month about being perplexed by the crappie on Greer's Ferry. They bit one day longlining crappie jigs. A front blew in that night and I could only get one to bite. The White bass were boiling the water all around me. I couldn't get them to hit any of my go to lures for them. But, when I sped up my trolling speed, they started hitting the crappie jigs.
Keep us posted. I have always wondered what would happen if I could get a jig down into a bait ball.

I had success with this back in the summer pulling cranks in Mississippi for crappie. I tied a 14lb. mono 18-24" long directly to the back treble hook of the bandit with a 2" curly tail grub in chartreuse, rosey red and tennessee shad. Had trips when the keepers wanted the jigs over the bandits. Hope it works for you too.

Thanks for the response. I thought of doing it that way but was concerned that I might stay tangled up all the time. I thought about puting a small barrel swivel on the treble hook and tying a 14" or so leader onto it.

We caught 2 more limits of whites today just trolling crankbaits, but I still want to try a jig/grub trailing up one of the crankbaits.

We are catching the fish in mass quantities on the crankbaits we troll. I am just looking to experiment with a little different setup.

I use a rig like that in the rivers in wis. and they work real good, this is how i rig it up, to the main line i tie on a 3 way swivel, than on one eye tie a 18in dropper line for the crankbait, it will dive, than on the other eye tie on at least 24in. dropper line for the jig it will ride higher, a lot of times you will get doubles, give me a shout if it works for you!!!!

Billy---Jack called me and he is going to send me some of those Slab Buster jigs----He wants feed back on them. They are pretty cheap also---I think I will order all of my jigs from him if I catch fish on them.

Backwater Man, I was just passing through and saw your post about the slab buster jigs, let me tell you they are awsome, been using them since Jack came out with them, started out using the hand poured/injected style to the ones today, I catch lots of crappie on them, If you get them you will not be dissapointed, I really like the jig and Jack is super nice to deal with. good luck and hope you catch lots of fish
