Well the day started off not good, I made a cardinal sin in crappie fishing, slept in and didnt get on the water till 8AM, (Shame Shame). I can remember my wife saying it's 6 AM and the coffee is ready. Those was the last words I heard from her as she fell back asleep. I thought I was up and moving (But It was all a BIG DREAM)LOL. Next time I woke up I saw daylight coming through the bedroom window. Thought to myself Oh Crap I'm late. Got to Caney got unloaded saw about 4-5 other boats working the pads and stumps over. So i headed to the bridge and fished the piller where a grass mat was pinned agianst it. Like that I had my first 5 keepers. I picked up CS jigs and started working the Pad's and caught 5 more keepers. Had 10 keepers by 10:00 AM. Things got slow as the sun came up so i started casting a jig and bobber about three feet deep and found some stumps with seven good fish (to include a fat 14 incher) which bought my number to 17. The bite on the bobber dies off, so i went back on a verticle jig and grinded out my last three keepers in the pads and nailed my biggest fish a fat 15 incher at 3:15 PM. At 4PM I finally nailed my 20th keeper and called it a day. As I drove home I thought about how that extra hour of sleep costed me and I thought I could have my limit allot earlier that day and probly missed my shot at some even better fish. For year's Iv'e heard my Dad say SON!!! (The early BIRD Get's the Worm). I did Get to meet a Crappie.Comer named TA1/Drew who got there at daylight LOL and had 19fish the last i talked to him, he told me he came from Lonoke based on my reports. I was glad he caught some and made a new friend.![]()
