    Default Portia Bay Saturday morning

A poor day needs to be reported as well as good ones. We caught about 15 fish in a mixed bag. All small ones. water was a shade off colored. Gar were spread everywhere as were the crappies. Last year about this time they started biting and there were a good number of nice ones. Guess I am just a little early because last year the deer hunters were honking at us on sunday afternoons
Crappie bite twice a day. 15 minutes before I get there and 10 minutes after I leave.

I fished there several times early this spring, maybe too early, but I never caught a good mess out of there. Do you catch them shallow or in 8 or 9 foot of water??

I agree with you Gomer about the reports. Helps everyone when you report the not so good trips. I like the good reports better, but I can use the bad ones too. May save me a trip that I wouldn't have made. Thanks again.

Deep on the ends of sunken logs or brush. Also some on the stakes deep and slow.

i can report to you that rattlesnakes are very much at home in the water. makes concentrating on fishing much harder.
