Default Lake Conway study to reveal underwater topography

I get the Arkansas Outdoors Weekly Newsletter sent to my email from the arkansas game and fish. this was in the newsletter and I thought I would share it with the crappie.com guys and gals. wonder if they will make a new map with this information.

CONWAY - In an effort to understand the depth and lake floor of Lake Conway, Southwestern Energy is conducting a bathymetric study of Lake Conway that will continue through the first week of November. Bathymetry is the study of the bottom contours of a lake.

The purpose of the study is to gather data for the Lake Conway Watershed Study. Data will be collected by research crews walking the perimeter of Lake Conway with Global Positioning System units, as well as boats with sonar equipment. The public will be able to identify the research crew by their bright orange vests that are labeled “Lake Conway Project.”

Software will convert the data into a three-dimensional map that will include the amount of available water (volume), depth profile and bottom features of the lake. Southwestern Energy is conducting the study at no charge to the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission.

I just got through reading it in my weekly E letter from the AGFC. I am sure if they would have asked, there are plenty of people that could have told them the lake is silting in with out going to all of that expense.
Fetmo, CrappiePro, Dano.........(I can't think of anymore "O's") all Of them guys could have told them what the bottom of the lake is doing.

Anyone with a little common sense or education knows anytime a dam is built and slows water you will have it fill in behind it in time. A previous resident engineer told me once Nimrod was'nt filling in. Said just look , all the stumps are sticking up with exposed roots from washing dirt away. What happens is all the dirt , silt, or whatever settles when it hits calm water (lake). The rivers, creeks, and washes carry lots of dirt. Here it is real evident where the creeks run of mountain clear cuts! The creeks that hit the lake no longer have deep channels , but piles of rock , mud, and debrie. Not to mention shoreline errosion and high spots getting worn down by wave action. It over time fills in channels and makes lakes shallower and basically a mud bowl.

Maybe a cover up story for natural gas exploration?

    I don't know but...
Sponserd by "Southwestern Energy", checking to see what kind of real water capacity ??? I will say this, if you wish to really mess up a good fishery build a dam and start generating power. The cold water, taken off the bottom of the lake, ruins the warm water fishery downstream and the continual flucuation of the lake level due to discharges while generating power messes with plant growth and fishing in the lake. Study Lake Greeson if you do not believe it.

COULD THEY BE WANTING WATER FOR DRILLING GAS WELLS? POSSIABLY PART OF A DEAL TO HELP GET LEASES ON AGFC LANDS? WHY WOULD THEY SPEND MONEY WITHOUT A REASONABLE EXCUSE? MAYBE EVEN FOR ENVIROMENTAL IMPACT STUDIES LATER CONCERNING THEIR BUSSINESS VENTURES? WATCH OUT , I DON'T TRUST THEM OR AGFC. They did the same thing here in KS on some of our lakes. Your gonna be
surprised at some of the results. The new maps will help also, I promise. One
lake had a "silt" bar almost midlake where the water on construction was
about 46' and the new depth was 23'. Just another way for the Neb. boys
    to get to our lakes.:D
All lakes raise a foot when I step in the boat
