    Default Roadrunner lures...

Got a question about roadrunner lures. Here's a pic of a 1/8th, 1/16th and a 1/4th roadrunner heads. What is the little wire hanging off the smallest head for? The other two sizes don't have it and was just wondering. Thanks.

The wire is a weed guard.

Have not seen a roadrunner head with weed guard before. I always felt that weed guards on crappie jigs caused more missed bites and are not worth a few lost jigs. Has anyone had good success with them?

Hey cache22,I feel the same way. I never have liked weed guards because I think you miss a lot of fish. I don't mind getting hung up ever now and than. My dad told me " If your not getting hung up your not were the fish are". See ya on the lake!

I pour my own so if I get hung I just break it off and retie.

I'm going to try it with the weed guard on for a bit and if it starts messing with my bites then I'll just trim it off. I've never seen one before either so thats why I was asking. Thanks for the help guys.
