Default Family Trip to Greeson & DeGray Lake

Well we finally got home from a 9 hr trip today. I would like to first say thanks to all who gave us the tips and made our trip allot of fun.

We stopped first at Greeson fished Sat. afternoon and Sunday until 11 or so. We only caught 1 Crappie. That did not matter to much to us, We got a kick out of the Kentucky's. Up here in northern Missouri we do not see schools of Black Bass or Kentucky's schooling like White Bass. Sunday morning after another unsucsessful attempt at Crappies we saw fish breaking the water. I showed my younger son them and he said lets go. I was really expecting Whites or Hybrids? We were casting crankbaits, Rattle Traps, everything like we would use up here. We couldn't get so much as a bite. I told Lane I was going to throw a Pop R and asked if he wanted one too? He said no he was fine. Well it was a good call. First cast I had a 3lb Kentucky smash it. Next cast one came up 2' out of the air and came down on top of it. Lane said give me one of those that was awsome. I lost count of how many we caught.

Sunday afternoon we arrived at DeGray at State Park Resort. This Lake reminded me allot of Beaver Lake. We are not used to fishing deep clear lakes and it was an adjustment. I had the coordinates for the Condos, but who knew that the temps would be 108 degrees plus everyday we stayed there. We graphed plenty of Crappie on the Condos but just couldnt get anything to work. From daylight till about 10am the Topwater bite was good like at Greeson. Only this Lake the Whites & Hybrids were up surfacing. Same Pop R's produced very good results. I had to straighten the treble hooks back I dont know how many times? I had a blast catching them.

On the way home we went a different way home. We went past Dardenale & Manumel ( Sp? ) I had never seen Ctpress trees before. I will hit these Lakes on my next return trip. Hopefully it will be in the spring or fall next time. Ya'll can have that hot humid stuff. LOL

Thanks again for the help. Ya'll got some beautiful places down that way. Lee

Glad you had a good time. I see those stacks of crappie on my graphs on Degray too. I just ain't good enough with my trolling motor to stay long enough to figure them out.
