    Talking Stump-breaking at Lake Conway......

After meeting up with CrappiePro for some well given tips and seeing him catch a few, I took off in my own direction to seek and destroy a limit.

Destroy I did, a brand new MinnKota Edge trolling motor bit the dust after I jumped the boat off of one of the FEW stumps in the area.:D I didn't see the stump in front of the boat and when she came off the one I was hung on, the TM took the brunt of the impact and snapped like a toothpick!

Looks like I get to go sell some cans and purchase a new one, unless one of you guys have one you'll sell?

Either way, Russ was off to another great start, don't know how he finished the day however. Before the "stump" breaking session, I caught two nice ones and a medium size one and SEVERAL smaller ones. Fish were biting well and no doubt a limit of nice fish was in the future until the mishap.

Thanks again Russ for the invite and I'll let you know when I'm available again.

Been there done that. About 10 years ago, I managed to work my way up into Cane Creek from the lake. I broke a blade off the prop and bent the shaft on my big motor on the way in. On the way out, I was letting the wind push me while directing with the TM. I managed to snap the TM in two. Fortunately I didn't get hi centered after I got my paddle out. It don't pay to get in a hurry out of the channels. Then you have to watch for floaters.
I will start saving some cans for Ya. CreekSlick had one for sale a while back.

Hate your bad luck MM. I've heard Conway has a few stumps in a place or 2.

A "Pro Staffer" broke his trolling motor?... how embarrassing is that???

I've found that paying attention to the sonar has saved me mucho $ in TM parts and outboard props!!!... you do have a sonar unit don't you?

    Maybe a spare transducer.
Crappie bite twice a day. 15 minutes before I get there and 10 minutes after I leave.

Busted a TM there myself 2 years ago. Had to replace the whole thing. Got a new Minkota and I actually like it better than the gator.

That's the problem a lot of the times. The fish are always in tough to get to places or the good hiding holes.
