    Default Flash Flood Deaths

I'm saddened to post this, but feel that these folks deserve some mention. They were doing what we all love to do, and that is spend time with friends and family in the outdoors, especially here in Arkansas.

Unfortunately, Mother Nature left some with a losing battle and these folks lost their lives in the flash flooding of the Little Missouri River. The river went from its normal stage of 3 feet, to 23 feet in a matter of a 4 hours.

Katelynn Smith, 2 years of age, Gloster, LA
Joey Smith, 5 years of age, Gloster, LA
Shane Basinger, 34 years of age, Gloster, LA
Kinsey Basinger, 6 years of age, Gloster, LA
Jadyn Basinger, 8 years of age, Gloster, LA
Robert Lee Shumake, 68 years of age, DeKalb, TX
Nic Shumake, 7 years of age, DeKalb, TX
Sheri Wade, 46 years of age, Ashdown, AR
Eric Schultz, 38 years of age, Nash, TX
Bruce Roeder, 51 years of age, Luling, LA
Kay Roeder, 69 years of age, Luling, LA
Debbie Roeder, 52 years of age, Luling, LA
Gayble Y. Moss, 7 years of age, Texarkana, TX
Kylee Sullivan, 6 years of age, Texarkana, TX
Leslie Jez, 23 years of age, Foreman, AR
Kaden Jez, 3 years of age, Foreman, AR
Debra McMasters, 43 years of age, Springhill, AR
Julie Freeman, 53 years of age, Texarkana, TX

What really hits home is that almost half of the dead were under the age of 10 years. Just babies still. My prayers and condolences to the families and friends.

Were you guys aware that the early warning system of the National Weather Service was not operational for nearly a year in this area. They had no way to know what was coming. Even if they had early warning devices in their campers/tents they would not go off because the NWS elected not to repair the tower.

Now that really makes it more of a tragedy, if that's possible. Is this information confirmed?
