Default Ouchita River/ Saline River in Felsenthal

I have been catching some decent crappie in the refuge. They aren't jumping in the boat but they are biting enough to keep you interested. Lots of little fish but about 1 keeper for every 4-5 little ones. My wife and caught alot of fish yesterday but we threw most of them back. Managed to keep 8 to go with some i had caught the previous day wich made a good mess for me and her. I'm using red/char about 3-5 feet deep around cypress trees. Tight lines and stay safe!!:D

Thanks for the report, I need to get down there and try them. Haven't fished the refuge, but need to start, as it is no further than the oxbows on the Miss. river where I've been fishing. Would the ramp at the harbor be the best place to put in? Thanks again for the report.

stumpjumper, did you hit 'em at morgan point while the river was down? When it goes down this next time I want to hit scrubgrass and blue hole but that may be a while.

The harbor would be fine. I normally use the old beer joint boat ramp across the bridge. It's a little bit closer to the mouth of the saline but it is also normally a pretty busy ramp.

Went again this morning and the fish didn't bite as well as they were biting. It was really windy and couldn't go as slow as I wanted to. Gonna try em again tomorrow!

I didn't catch a lot of fish at M P, but the ones I caught were good ones.

ddd maybe it's a good sign of things to come that we have so many small ones in the oauchita and saline this year..same story here...went to moro bay a week ago and after that to eagle lake which is basically where laigle creek ends up with same results...you have to catch 60+ to get 20 decent keepers..must have had a great spawn last year...jerry...if you don't mind a few gravel roads, it's a little closer from monticello to put in at prairie island on the saline south of hermitage to fish some of the same waters ddd is talking about...if you need some directions...just holler...be glad to point you in the right direction

Thanks TJ, I'll holler at you when I get a chance to head down there.
