Great day "fishing".....

Well "fishing" is what we did. Not alot of catching but a great day on the water. I took a young man named Coleman Pearson, a SSG. in th U.S. Air Force with me on an explatory trip.

Morning started out with a bang with a nice 1 1/4 lb. aggresive male smacking my jig less than a foot deep in 12 fow. Followed somewhat quickly by some nice females of about 1 3/4 or so.

The it happened.............they stopped biting with the exception of one fish late this afternoon, kind of small.

But all in all, I had a great time with Coleman and what a respectable young man. Coleman seems to be a straight up guy with a nice young family that includes a baby of about a year old.

If you guys get chance, invite Coleman to go along. He knows how to fish and is a joy to be around.

Guys, also keep in your prayers the thousands of "Colemans" we have out there putting their lives on the line everyday so ours can be better.

Coleman - I enjoyed it and you are invited anytime you get ready. Until then, enjoy the new spot and I hope your freezer is always full.

I just wanted to say Thank You again for having me today. Even though the fish didnt bite real well I had a great time and hopefully we can do it again. Its like you said "atleast we are fishing." I will get the pictures posted of our bounty tomorrow. If you guys have not met Dennis, you are missing out. He is a great guy and took time out of his weekend to take a stranger out fishing and teach me a thing or two. Thanks again and hopefully in a month or so, Ill be able to return the favor

Seven Mile Lake located north of DesArc. Fairly small lake but with deep water.

general,
if you have an oppurtunity you can rent a boat at the MWR and there are some nice crappie in the big base lake. they will have all the equipment you will need. hope you get a chance to put midsouth man's tactics to the test.
the deepest part of the lake is on the officers side by the drainage to the creek, about 21 feet. there is a good drop off between the overflow pipe and the point behind the commanders house. good luck

Nice Job Dennis, Im a retired and disabled vet so i know those guys appriciate you taking them fishing. And that large base lake has some nice slabs in it to. Maybe one of them can get you on that lake. Or i can get you in on that lake. LOL Nice lake to spider rig.
