    Default Lake Erling

Can anyone give me any information about Lake Erling. I recently moved to Cotton Valley, LA. and I know that Lake Erling is only about 20 miles north of me. My wife and I drove up to the lake Monday afternoon and finally found a boat ramp at a park. The lake looked good. I hope to fish it some when I get settled in and go to Bass Pro Shops and replace all of the fishing equipment that was stolen from me about two weeks ago. They stole everything but the boat and life jackets. But, it was only stuff and the Lord will replace it. Good luck to all you crappie fishermen and God bless.

Lake Erling is a very good lake to fish for all types, crappie, bream and catfish. The main thing is to learn how to get around in the lake and know the boat runs. Erling is very very stumpy. I usually fish the upper end or the back side. Gravel road leads to the boat ramp if you are coming in from Bradley. There is a nice lake outside of Spring Hill also.-----Jim

Thanks for the welcome and the info. I look forward to getting me some new gear and getting out on a lake somewhere to enjoy the Lord's creation.

Default Hello to everyone around Lake Erling

This is my introductory post to Crappie.com- happy to be here.

I will be moving to the Lake Erling area in about a year. I am moving there with some friends who bought a place on Shiloh Road, just south of the lake. Can anyone tell me what's the closest boat launch for me? And will it accomodate a 28 ft pontoon?

Until the move, I will just be fishing from my jon boat on the weekends.

What is better for crappie fishing on Lake Erling... jigs or live bait?

Looking forward to meeting some of the locals and catching some big fish... or at least swapping fish stories.

    Default best launch

Best launch will be located at park not sure where shiloh road is located but park has very good launch facilility that will handle pontoon with no problems if you need better directions to locate launch drop me a private message and I will see what I can do I live on Lake and fish for crappie on a regular basis.
Jigs and shiners are both productive on Erling just depends on time of year.
