    Default Little Nippers on Greeson

The past two days have been one for the record books. Not just because alot of fish have been caught (60 and 67) but more because of the way we did it and who was doing it. For two days now I have heard more laughs, giggles, ooohs, and awwwhs from clients landing crappie while pitching jigs than I have in a long time. For inquiring minds, we were using Lindy's Little Nippers (white/char and orange/char) fished from 5-12-feet deep. Here's the pudd'in.

Looks like they are picking up everywhere. Here they are hitting tube jigs 4 to 8' deep for us . Till today that is, we caught more fish 2 to 4' suspended over brushpiles in 4 to 10' water. Hope this cold snap won't set them back too far. That looks like some happy clients and real good pictures.

Well I wished they were doing as well on Hamilton. I know they are SOMEWHERE but I haven't figured it out yet. I normally fish the lower end of the lake on Hamilton but before I totally give up I will find out how to focus on the great crappie on this lake during the prespawn and spawn. What was it Yamamoto said after attaching Pearl Harbor, "I fear we have awaken a sleeping giant." I'll figure them out. When I do I will share because there's 18 miles of lake we all can conquer.

I would say yes but that all depends on water temp. As the water warms (through the day) they will be moving more shallow. On a sunny day, start on staging beds in the morning and move ultimately shallow by afternoon. Or you can use my technique -- go into the shallows probing first thing, catch a few maybe, what you don't catch will be spooked out to the staging tops nearby, then fish that where they are congregated. I think it's a killer technique since you can only fish two or three spots per day and get boat limits. I'm sure I will be fishing there and say hi if you see me but if not give me a call and I'll be your personal gps.

Darryl, Will follow your advice. I hope to hit them while they're in the bushes. I was raised on Greeson and have experienced some good results in years past jigging bushes. Even though bass fishing is my 1st love, I'm really enjoyingcatching a few slabs.
