Last Thursday I fished at Shoal bay on Dardanelle and found the crappie in26- 32 feet of water 2-4 feet from the bottom. I caught 22 nice ones and kept 20 in maybe a 500 Sq foot area. Thought I would whack them again today and wound up with 4 slabs after 31/2 hrs of fishing. water temp was 44.5 degrees.
Where oh where did they go????
It ain't nuttin but luck.
I bet you'll find em again!
nothing beats time on the water
They were still there only thing different was when your jig got close to one he would swim backwards.More then likely you foul hooked those 4 when one swam backwards and shoved the jig in another ones mouth.
*LOL*
You know thats the reason I took all the bells and whistles out of my boat years ago, couldn't stand seeing fish on the finder and them not hit not even the kitchen sink.Hit one day and not the other isn't uncommon this time of years or any other part of the year for that matter.Like I said more than likely they were still there(snagged) but was afraid to eat anything you had to offer. If that happens I'll move on looking for another active school and not waste my time on inactive grougs.I don't care if they hit or not but do know sometimes you can tie on a small trout fly for the inactive group and it may just be their food choice for that day.A small snack b/c their bellies is full, like thanksgiving dinner your full but will eat a small snack now and then.I'm stuburner and want give them what they want if they don't want a 1 1/2 to 2 in. plactic they can go without their snack....good fishing to ya
I'm impressed with anyone who found them the first time. I'm sure you'll get on them again.
Thanks for the report on Dardanelle....I really hope to try fishing there this year....the fish were probably still around...may have just been inactive or changed feeding depth while you were there the 2nd time....please keep us posted on how you do.
Good to see some post from Lake Dardanelle. Glad you caught some.
