Default Have you fished Norfork Lake?

I don't see many people on this forum discussing Norfork Lake. I am just curious how many people on here fish or have fished this lake? If you don't fish it anymore but did in the past, why did you stop fishing it? Then I would like those that do fish it to rate it on a scale of 1-5.

1 being a bad crappie lake and 5 being an excellent crappie lake.

crappie? what is this? a fish? norfork lake? yes i fished that lake. i know it from diamond bay down to the dam and up brushy creek and big creek like the back of my hand almost. but i bass fished it mostly at night during the summer months. back long ago we fished it for crappie at night mostly under lights. some was done in the spring but it was seldom the lake was right as far as being up in the brush during spawn time. now the corp has put beds out and have them marked from the bank i understand. i had to quit fishing it during the summer when we started raising watermelons. that took up my summer fishing. now i'm to the point of being too old to be out on the lake at night like i loved back then. jerry that then owned the marina across from hand cove said i should be banned from the lake. i took him bass fishing one night and he told some guys when we got back to his dock that when asked how we did he said, "i just got to see a bass fishing show." we pulled up to the first point and i told him to "throw over there" and bang he caught one. as far as crappie i can't help you.

I like fishing the lake in the "off season" Wife has caught more crappie then me there but they were small. I am trying to learn the lake but usually go North from the bridges or even into Missouri. I have done better catching crappie on Bull Shoals above Theodosia in the Spring.

I am from IL and I have been coming down to Norfork for the last 17 years at least once or twice a year. We have always enjoyed our trips down there but the fishing always seems to vary from year to year. From 2004-2005 the crappie fishing was excellent. Since then we haven't had very good luck. The last two years the water level has been very high and so it made finding the fish hard. However, they act like those type of years make for better years later because of a better spawn during the high water. So I am hoping for better fishing in the coming years.

I have fished the south end some in the past. I have not been there in about 3 years. I had my best luck fishing the brush piles placed my the corp. They are listed on the Hot Spot map. The water is so clear there you will have to mark the spots then back away and anchor then cast to the brush piles.
