To all the Crappie guru's in Northeast Arkansas.
I am planning a trip to my nephew's this spring who lives on Beaver Lake near Hwy 12 bridge. He is an avid bass fisherman but knows "0" zero about crappie fishing. I have talked him into doing some "real" fishing and could use some help as I have never fished this lake. I was born in Conway but my parents moved out of state when I was small. Any help appreciated.

I am a heterosexual male. 2 Chronicles 7:14
"If my people who are called by My name will humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from Heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land."
That area is mid lake and i would look for deep channels near points with boat docks close by. Pratie Creek, Coose, Ventress, Rocky Branch, and the Hgy 12 Bridge. With the ice storm we had year before last there are tons of laydowns, just float a minnow in and around those tree tops. If the spawn is on then its anyones guess, year before they spawned on the points, last year they were in the very backs of the coves on the warm side of the cove. Being a guide its no differant for me than you, i have to search for them in the spawn as they dont or very rarely have a set spawn place on this lake! I just look for the dinner sized plates they have swept away on the bottom near the banks til can establish a pattern. Also take into consideration that they are dropping the lake as we speak and that will send the crappie into a tizzy, pushing them in and out of deeper water. Bait? minnows are great at this time of year floated under a slip rig, but the YUM 1.5" curly tail in black and chartruce is killer and so is the Bobby Garlans 2" shad in Licorace and blue ice, yellow and white tubes also work well

Thanks,
I appreciate the help. I understand it is a very clear lake so you must stay back and cast or use long jig poles. Here I'm luck if I can see my jig 18" - 24" down.
Thanks again!
if you fish the areas i have mentioned then you can get alot closer than you might think, visability is usually bout 6'. if in the early spring you will wanna fish deeper than that if the spawn is on then the crappie are already jumpy and you will wanna cast a slip rig to the target areas
