Has anyone heard or seen how many entries they have for the big tournament on conway? I was told there is well over 100 so far. I was also told that on that weekend the game and fish was going to patrol the lake, they are supposedly bringing extra officer for that weekend from other parts of the state, I just want to pass on some info, By law, passing of another boat on plane in conway is illegal, there is only one place on the lake that is posted no wake and thats at danos place, However anywhere a boat lane passes within 100ft of a dock or boat house there is a no wake zone. these are not marked, but I know for a fact these are some of the things they are going to be looking for. License registration proof of insurance for 50hp and above outboards, life preservers, the normal stuff. This is just a friendly reminder in advance of the tournament. I was on lake conway when they had the last crappiethon tournament here. The Bass tournament that was scheduled for that weekend has been change so there would be no conflict for the fishing spots with the Crappie tournament.![]()

thanks for the info.
Let me clarify some things on and about the tournament. Slabs is correct on his statements about the Game and Fish having a presence during the tournament. They are heavily involved with the planning and preparation for this tournament by design. And yes, they have every right to make sure that our game and fish laws are being followed. But I think you will see more of this activity during the pre-fishing days prior to the actual tournament.
As far as the actual number of entries are concerned, I know that this tournament is drawing a lot of attention from all over the state and country for that matter. It is the most challenging event that CrappieMasters has and is considered by some to also be the best format. I have had people contact me from all over in regards to the tournament and have expressed that they feel this will be one of the better tournaments this year. With that being said, I hope entries have reached the level of 100 already as it will make for a very good weekend of fishing and fun.
As far as ramps are concerned, there are many to choose from. I know of at least seven quality ramps that can be utilized and I am sure there are more if you count all of the "privately" owned ramps. Dano's, Pierce Creek, Green lake, Adams Lake, Cane Creek are to name just a few. Remember, anglers can use any ramp they choose and launch at any time.
I spent all day again yesterday with Paul Alpers, President of CrappieMasters, in the Conway area making last minute arrangements. We revisited with the Chamber of Commerce, local sponsors, Ark. Game and Fish, several ramps and the weigh in site. We also recorded the radio commercial advertising the tournament. We hope that all of the homework is done now and the preparation is complete.
I hope to have answered most of your questions. But if I have not, please contact me at 1-501-231-3374 and I will do my best to help you out anyway I can.

1carym, From what i have been told a big part of this tournament is going to take place out of the Game and Fish training center over at Peirce Creek, They have ample facilities to support this tournament.![]()

dafshklr, I could'nt agree more with you about them having the right to uphold the game and fish laws and glad that they do, But I would hope that this is not going to be turned into a revenue producing event by the game and fish through citations, For as long as I can remember they have never put any enforcement on the no wake zones where the main boat lanes come close to boat docks and boat houses, they have never been officially marked as no wake zones either. there will be a lot of these tournament boats fishing in these boat lanes, For 60 or nearly 60 years they have not worried with wake zones. I was just trying to give some people a heads up as to what to expect if they were not current and up to date with a few things. I was trying to remove the blindside factor. When is the prefishing days and when r they going to make the lake off limits to tourny anglers

Thanks Slbsntaters.
the only no wake zones i know of are out in front of my place here at gold creek and up in willimena cove and are clearly marked.the boat lanes in the main lake all over probably would be safe to not pass other boats on plane because they are not very wide anyways and sometimes dangerous just navigating.

danogoldcreek, thats the problem it is in regulations about the wake zone, marked or unmarked, bridge, boat docks. it is a un enforced regulation on conway, and there is plenty of places for speed traps on the main lake. this would still be a ten horsepower lake if they(ag&fc) had not been told they would lose important funding because all boats could not use the lake. This is what i have been told. that is why they removed the horsepower restrictions. Now they have potential conflicts with the larger boats and the wake zones.

I think this issue will be clearly addressed during the seminar on Thursday night. But I will say, 99% of the guys fishing will more than likely use the common sense needed on the lake and in the channels. Also, I believe most will be in their "smaller" rigs, flat bottoms with 60 or less horses.
But you bring up a good point and I will ensure it gets addressed. Thanks!
