Very nice lake!! Haven't fished it in a while, but, have had my days at Horseshoe! Nice everything in that lake. Blk/Chart.; red/chart.; glittering chart. has been my best jigs for crappie!! Plenty of lily pads and cypress trees. Crappie seems to hang around the old piers and cypress trees mostly when I fish! You will enjoy it, by-the-way: Launching from kamp karefree is $7, and $5 for the other boat ramp off of hwy 147.

Was over there week before last and caught 7 big crappie. Fished around piers using small jigs. Usually do better than this. Was told that aft. that people had been catching many crappie by trolling deep in the middle. If the wind gets over about 10 mph from the south it's pretty tough to fish. I'd use a bigger boat than a 14 ft. Mine's a 17 ft.

Yeah it's a great place for Nice Size Crappie. On Feb 6, 2010 Roper Outdoors has a Winter Crappie Tournament. Entry Fee:$55 and $10 for Big Fish. You should come out and see how you do. Let your family and friends know about and if you have any questions let me know.

That is per boat and the ramp will be announced at the meeting the day before the tournament.
