    Default Lake Monticello today

Got a late start this morning but had a nice day on Lake Monticello. The fishing was slow but I managed 16 and my buddy from Crossett had 18 trolling with jigs. It was very good seeing Jerry (LA Stumpjumper) back on the lake this afternoon. The wind was light, fishing slow, but a great time on the water!!

way to go steve...that's alot better than my last time out this past week...couldn't get 'em to bite the bgs very well and the north east wind was a little too strong for my liking plus the seark marine guys were testing one of those big ole service boats...those things really throw off a big wake...lol

We were fishing 5 ft off the bottom in 45 FOW using pink jigs with nibbles. The bite is extremely light from the Crappie. If you see a pretty good hit it is probably a bass.

Nice catch Steve, it was nice visiting with you and your buddy. I only caught 6 at LM and didn't get a bite at Cane Creek that morning. It was nice being back out on the water. Hope to get more fishing in now, maybe I'll learn how to catch them again.

    A bad day of fishing
beats a good day at work.

must be something to the pink...i went out there yesterday evening, fished 2 hours and caught 9 before dark using a sickle jig head painted pink and a natural cricket bg...was catching them on a chartruse head a few weeks ago...it was as nice as it gets out there with a slight westerly wind...i've only lost 1 fish since you put me on those sickle hooks...thanks

Not sure I got my earlier pm sent so I'm sending this. I hate to show my ignorance to everyone on the message board so I'm writing by pm. What is a "sickle jig head" and a "bg". Just not familiar with those terms.

    Many thanks.

BG would be for "Bobby Garland" jigs (usually in the Baby Shad) and jig heads with a sickle hook are extremely sharp and shaped to catch a crappie in the roof of the mouth most of the time. I get the sickle hook jigheads from TJ Crenshaw off Ebay. eBay Store - TCI Fishing Lures: Jig, Jighead, Tube Jigs
