    Default Ouachita and DeGray

Anyone been to Lake Ouachita or DeGray lately? If so, what are the crappie doing?

Haven't been, but last year around this time I caught my limit near the lodge at degray. But, it was 45 degrees and windy as all get-out.

And my goodness, them specs were huge! And yes, I plan on trying it again shortly.

Both lakes are falling fast right now but should level out within the next couple of days, I'd think.

Ouachita (for me) is kinda hit and miss right now. I have not been able to find the concentrations like Agrihawg has on DeGray. The paper says the crappie fishing has been 'excellent' on Ouachita. I'd like to know where the 'excellent' fishing is. The lake is 40,000 acres of water and there's a real good chance that if you don't have some goon inside information, it will be hit or miss.

Alls I can say about Ouachita (as of early last week) is that they were not concentrated on the brush piles that I visited near the channels. The ones I caught were 18-22 feet deep...on No. 4 minnows and a red jig tipped with a small minnow.

    Hope this helps.
