    Default Gold Creek 10-10-09

Well, I decided to try Gold Creek today. Not a good day for it. Highs in the low to mid 50's and a steady 10MPH wind from the NW made for a butt chilling day on the water.

The fish didn't cooperate either. Water surface temp was in the low 60s and I managed to catch a minnow, his big brother, a midget striper and a pipsqueak of a crappie. Four fishes in 7 hours.

Now for the disclaimer. We had a little bit of rain yesterday (only 4 inches), everything is running a bit high and very muddy. This weather brought us a nice cold front. The fish went to watch the Razorback kick Auburn's hinnie.

I did get to meet Dan and drown some minnows. Not to mention some crickets. :D

Did you try the pond any? I am going to try Gold Creek and pond for a bit in the morning. Should get better in the next couple of days and the water clears a lil. It's getting close to that time when you can find the first mother loads in the pond. Thanks for the report.

Yup, I and about 8 others were all over the pond, but I think those fish have no respect for a bobber. Folks were catching some, but 6-10 in 5-6 hours. Almost everyone was fishing under a bobber. I used a bobber and minnow, pulled a double jig set up (KY rig style) tipped with Crappie Nibbles and a minnow. I jigged in the lillies...

I think all the fish were at the Razorback game.

I didn't make it out today, but I sure wanted to. I did get out on the Little Maumelle this afternoon for a couple of hours. Same story as yesterday, only a more comfortable day.

Too much going on at the house this morning for me to get away.
