Default Just one of those days...Felsenthal

went down to the felsenthal after work this morning(yes shimmy, i am actually employed) i don't know what was wrong with me but i stayed hung up about half the time and got 10-12 nice ones up to the top of the water only to see 'em swim off the other way (sickening feeling) and to top things off i was 6 miles from my truck when i realized i was almost out of gas...had to putt putt back to the ramp to conserve fuel...you would have thought it was my first time to ever go fishin'...anyway, i made it and ended up with a mess of 21 crappie and 3 bream despite my poor effort...caught some of 'em jiggin' tops and some trolling flats off the main river and creek channels...blk/chart and green/chart tube jigs were the ticket today.

saline river about a 1/2 mile from the ouachita river junction

    mouth of the laigles...laigle creek

    21 crappie and 3 bream

That's a real good mess of fish TJ! Count your blessings of catching fish and being in one of the most beautiful spots on earth. It can always be worse.....at least you didn't forget to put the plug in the boat...LOL!!! I've done that before...TWICE!!! (but not in the last 8 years...I learned my lesson the hard way).

Hey ... could'a been worse! good mess. I know the feelin' of losing a bunch. I musta' got 10-12 nice fish to the top of the water at the boat side only to release 'em today at Lee. I actually thrust the dip net into the water to catch one nice one after the hook poped out of her mouth! It was meant to be I guess! I only ended up with 12 but it was a good mess. I'm happy to get to go out there.

guys i didn't mean to sound negative...i just hate to lose fish expecially when they weren't jumpin in the boat to start with...i am very thankful for every minute i get to spend on the water...steve, i will definately be trying those jig heads you recommended..maybe, that will solve this problem

ALRIGHT....good for you, 75% of the time i take a few just in case i can't get 'em to bite something in my box...i heard they were catchin' some nice bags down there but i've never fished below open break...was the water muddy down that way like it was in my pics

Nice looking mess of fish there gasper goul. I wanted to go today, but had the two grandkids. As much as I love to fish, spending some time with the grandkids is ALWAYS better. I can fish one day next week when they are back home and in school. One of these days they may grow up and not want to spend time with the old man. LOL.
