Default Greers Ferry Lake fall fishing

What's the trick to catching a mess on Greer's when summer fades? The wife and I went last Saturday and caught 6 crappie, 3-4 bass, 1 catfish, and one 3lb hybrid bass. The crappie were picked up here and there with no real pattern or any rhyme or reason. We trolled with Bandit's over by South Fork and then closer to Sugarloaf.

The fish I have been finding are still on the mud flats in about 20 to 25 FOW. They will be suspended about 15 to 17 ft. Very slow presentation seems to be the best approach. I have never fished it, but you might try the large cove off to the right of the island between Devils Fork Park and the Narrows. There should be some water the right depth with a mud bottom in there. Also up Devils Fork around the Island. Getting that bait down around 12 to 15 ft. is going to be the secret.
If the good Lord is willing and the creeks dont rise I'll catch a slab today.

Last weekend I did pretty well anchored on various brush piles. Would get 4-5 crappie on one spot then move to another. I know that a lot of guys troll this time of year, but I seem to have better luck sitting still and fishing a spot for a while. Most productive were brush in 18-25 ft water.
