    Default Peckerwood Report - Aug. 29, 2009

Evening folks! Ran into MeatGetter, RLBobCat, and Rodney today, and I hear LRJoe1 was there too (sorry I missed ya!, but had to move to get out from the darn wind). And ran into CRAPHEAD on the water with his boys. Last I heard he landed 10, but probably went on to catch his limit later.

Anyhow, arrived at Red Barn at approximately 6:30 when MeatGetter himself runs over and introduces himself. Taking Stubby's last post about working the edge of the lillypads - I did and caught 2 immediately on a 1/16oz black/chart jig, but after fighting that darn wind for about 45mins I gave it up and headed for the poles. And *wham*, 2 whites immediately! More fighting the wind so I decide to go to the canals. I managed to find a honey-hole to catch 19 specs and 3 bream on steroids!

Peckerwood is down about 6inches but not enough to expose the stumps and FISH. I was still able to open all 40 horses to move about. And I have never seen so many crappie-fisherman working the lillypads in my life - THAT IS AWESOME!

    Here are the pictures:

This is my cooler for a total of 23 Crappie and 3 bream:

Revised: Added this picture cuz the above did not look like 23 crappies. But here is another picture after I cleaned them:

This is MeatGetter and Rodney's Catch:

Shimmy, sorry that i missed you. I met Meatgetter. It was nice to see him, because I was only 2 fish into it and he put me on those jigs he was using. That did the trick. I ended up with 10 by 5.30 and I saw him at 4.15. I had to leave because the wife called and said she was sick feeling. I loaded up and came on home. I was sick of fighting the wind.

I got them all in the pads about 3ft deep in 5ft of water. Just like Meatgetter said. For all you that are looking for jigs to fish with. THey are very nice. You need to PM him and ask for #25 if you are going to Peckerwood.

Now those are some real pretty fish. Makes me want to go somewhere. Wish Peckerwood wasn't so far from home.
