do you think it's about over or is it the water level coming up...it looked like it was 2'-2 1/2' higher than it was a week ago or could it just be a slow day for fishing...friends of mine in crossett caught a good mess tue. in open break but didn't catch a fish there on wed....who knows...it's beyond my 3rd grade mind...lol

My friend from Crossett kept 38 Wednesday but had to work for them. Caught most of them in front of the Deerfield ramp from 5-7pm. He couldn't catch much on the South end. I am probably going to try to get into Paradise tomorrow morning. May have to put in at Lake Ferguson. Just a hunch but they might be biting in there tomorrow.

We put in at Lake Ferguson and motored across the river to get to Paradise. There is a 4 mph current in the canal comming out of Paradise and it is falling really fast. David and I fished till 12:30....Caught 7 slab Crappie, 2 nice Catfish, 2 drum, 2 striped bass, and one 10 lb Buffalo (had two more but they got off). The buffalo will be the prize for today (David said before we left that he just wanted to catch a good buffalo to eat). We usually hang at least a couple of buffalo when we fish Paradise. The smallest Crappie caught was probably close to a pound and a half.....batteries down in my digital scale but they were all really really nice ones. David thinks one will go close to three lbs but prob not....and I know he won't when we get thru cleaning him!!! Oh yea, the gar are still there! Also.....the turkeys were really gobbling over on the Island 82 side this morning early and were very entertaining for an hour or so. Didn't know they did that this time of year. We didn't hammer the Crappie too bad but had a great time anyway. We were the only boat trolling and there were 3-4 others along the edges but I think they were bass fishing.

Not a bit of trouble gettin thru the ditch today. We even used the TM in the ditch when coming out because of the current. Stayed at about 5 mph with the current and just used the TM for steering corrections and maintain control. The dikes are well marked and visible when leaving the main river. They are even marked on my navionics GPS and I just stayed close to the S. end of the island when cutting W. to leave the river. From Ferguson ramp at the casinos to Paradise Lake took about 40 minutes and we weren't running too fast. I don't know if I would take the Triton if I went tomorrow though because it will be about 1.5 ft lower. We usually use 11 ft at Arkansas City as the cutoff when getting a 16 ft flatbottom into Paradise without difficulty. We fished both ends of the lake and most of the middle....spent lots of time where there really weren't any Crappie. We found most of the fish in front of the island using green/char/red glitter and black/firetail/glitter. We caught them fishing 6-8 ft deep in 8-10 FOW. Did you fish Lee today?
