Greers Ferry this Friday 7/31

I'm taking the day off to go fishing this Friday. I was thinking about going over to Choctaw and was wondering if anyone had been going over there and if they had any success. Also, if anyone would like to go with me they are welcome because I'll be going solo. Hill Creek and that area is a possibility also.

Wish I could join you but I have got to do the work thing. It sure gets in the way of my fishing.

I caught 8 crappie and one large mouth. Lost 3 crappie. Caught them on Rootbeer, Black Splatterback, and Tennessee Shad Bandit 300's. It was an awesome day. I ended up giving the crappie to a gentleman sitting on the bank. He had been there all morning and hadn't caught much of anything. He was proud to have them and even gave me a God bless you. So, I've got that going for me.

I stayed around Choctaw. I did go up into South Fork a little bit right before I left but onlu caught one small one there.

I had been thinking all week I was going to DeGray to meet some inlaws that had been camping all week. When my wife and I got on the road, I found out they really were on Greer's at Shilo. I had to hear the "you don't pay attention to me" speech all of the way there. I only got 1.5 hours of fishing in the whole weekend on Friday evening just before dark. We pulled some Bandits and Grave Diggers along the bluff on the southside of the narrows. I knew this area would be beat up by the traffic. But, it was handy to the camp. Caught 4 crappie and 6 bass; one was about 3 lbs. Fortunately, a teen that rarely gets to go fishing caught him. After we took pictures and dressed him, the boy told me to put him "in the pot" for the annual family fish fry in a couple of months.

There is a couple of land slides near the SE point of that bluff. Around them, I don't know if we found buried debris or somebodies brush piles. But, the fish were really stacked in there. I wished we had more time to explore more.
