    Default Lee Lake this weekend

Went to Lee Saturday with my son David. We fished in two different boats because we had to take my wife's brother and nephew who were visiting from Texas City, TX. Neither had Crappie fished before and the nephew had never even tasted Crappie. David took the F&F and the nephew and I took the brother-in-law in the Triton. This is also a testimony to the "Add-A-Seat" that you see advertised on this page sometimes. I just bought one for the Triton and we used it Saturday. I weight 225 and the brother-in-law weighs in at 360! The add-a-seat was rock solid all day long......I never would have believed it would work that well but it is a solid piece of equipment. I wouldn't think of adding pedestal bases if I had the option to get an add-a-seat....buying another one for the other boat. We fished Saturday until 1:00 and between the two boats we caught well over 125 Crappie. We left the lake with 96 very good filet-sized Crappie (up to 16 inches) and 6 bluegill. I hate to admit this but I have to give David credit.....His boat brought out 60 of the 96 total that were kept and they caught the last 20 from 12:00 till 1:00. We were catching them fishing 8 ft deep in 16-18 FOW with black firetails. I went back today by myself and kept 41 Crappie by 5:20. They had moved back out into the middle and gone deep and even changed the colors they would bite. I had to fish 14-16 ft deep trolling pretty fast to get them to bite. Also had to sit out a pretty good storm that rolled into Lee today and had to don the raingear a couple of times while out on the water. It was a real good weekend in spite of the rain.

Good goin' there Steve! I didn't fish the weekend over there because of the crowds. Any where to park your truck left?

I got there fairly early on Sat to get a spot.....had it pretty much to myself on Sunday! I looked for you Bill but didn't know what color and type your new boat was. I knew you said you had a 150 Optimax so I just looked for those but didn't see any. You missed a good time on Sunday..... I found the fish about 2:00 fishing deep in the middle and they really kept me busy. One time I had three Crappie at one time on all three rods in my left rod holders and just as I started pulling the first one into the dipnet a 3 foot gar grabbed one of the right side poles......wrapped hisself around two of the crappie (which got loose) and tied three lines into a birds nest. I only got one crappie out of that deal and spent 40 minutes untangling lines (which I should have just cut and re-rigged)!!!. I got so upset I nearly broke my dipnet on that gars snout! Between that and the storms it was a blast! The rain kept things good and cool... As far as trolling on Sat, there were only a few boats in the middle....most were fishing the bushes....don't know if they were catching any...we were having too much fun to find out.

I have been fishing Lake Lee, Lake Washington, and Lake Ferguson all my life and I can tell you that when its right there is no better lake around. Starting January of 2010 I will be starting my guide service up on these three lakes so look me up and I will be glad to help anyone out if I can. Summer and fall is the best time to fish Lee and Ferguson and November thru March is best at Washington.

And Ferguson is right downtown Greenville, Ms. Launch at the casino concrete and go right! Troll in mid lake area around the north bend. You'll see the boats! Both of these lakes (and also Paradise and many more) are between the Mississippi levees and the daily limit is 50 per person with no size restrictions on your Arkansas fishing license. Matter of fact, the state lines run through these lakes.
