We tore them up last 3 days. Two older friends and ones grandson went out with me this morning. We got started a little before 7.00 and quit at 9.00. Kept 4 limits of Channels and a Crappie. Most were 1 to 4 lbs. Did have some up to 10 lbs.:D Need to remember to take the camera, but that means I could'nt fish.
Funny thing is everyone says Crappie are slow. We catch some every day Catfishing with Catalpa Worms.

Hey Nimrod....You tried fishin' for the crappie? Sounds like they're in shallow and maybe will take a jig?
Nimrod,
What do you use for bait? How do you place it, with tops you have put in or along specific topo features, what is the average depth? I put up about 1200Catalpa worms recently, would like to try your tecnique out on Greason.
Been fishing ledges with shallow(5') to deep water(10') close the channels (15-25'), either stumps or pallets on them. Feeding sweet feed every day or two.
We caught 3 limits today but mostly fiddlers. They bit good till we ran out of fresh Catalpa Worms. Started using some old frozen worms and they did'nt want them. Took Rodney Elmore and his youngest son fishing today.

Those make nice fillets.
A friend turned me on to Wright Patman over at Texarkanna this spring, can't keep any under 12", allowed to keep 25 per person, per day. We just fished like fishing for Bream, bobber,Bream hook, split shot, 1 to 1 1/2 feet deep against the buck brush, went twice, we caught limits both times did some culling and were not on the water all that long either time. (Canadian Night Crawlers) 1st then I took some of my Catalpa worms the 2nd.
Last 5 mornings we dressed about 150 Catfish . Even caught a few Crappie and Bream on the Catalpa Worms.

If you are catching crappie on those catalpa worms you must be verticle fishing them. Don't seem like the crappie would bite them if you were tightlining on the bottom.
Nimrod, How do you feed the sweet feed? ( Just throw it in or in a chum tube or something else) thanks Mike
