    Default Greer's

If anyone is fishing Greer's make sure you have a horn or whistle on your boat because the nuts are out in full force this year. Had to blow my horn twice Saturday to keep from getting hit. Their parents had enough money to but them big fancy boats but did not have enough left to buy them enough sense to operate this boats. So be careful if you are out there on the weekend.

I had an idea it would be like that over the weekend. I decided to just stay in and relax. I'd like to get up there this week but I have company coming in so I may have to wait until next week. Sorry the craze's wouldn't leave you alone. I imagine you pulled some cranks, did you do any good?

Picked up a half dozen. They are starting to put a little weight back on now, not quite as thin as they were. we don't have a thermoclime yet so I think they are deeper than the 300's are running. A fwe more days like we have been having and one should start to form.

Good to hear!! Stay safe out there! All the crazies should be on the Ark River this weekend.

I have been on Greers just one time in my fishing boat. It was the scariest experience I have ever had in a boat.
I am taking two boat loads out to an island in Ouachita this weekend, then do the firework thing on the river the next. Both trips with the toon boat. At least the crazys can't swamp it. I might wreck a few of them though.

DP, I went out a little while this morning, putting in at Twin Creeks. Sad to say fishing (for me) was not good (only two).

Booked at 2:00pm. The heat and the boat traffic from the Boy Scout lease on the north side of the lake between Denby and Twin Creeks was just too much.

Three folks limited out somewhere around Denby, using No. 4 minnows. They marked crappie in open water and just dropped the minnows on top of 'em. What luck!!

I found fish on brush piles but could not get them interested.

    Maybe next time.

Me and my tribe will squat on an island out of Crystal Hill on the 15th and stay through the weekend. I am going to try Creekslick's method of trolling the moss and grass humps in the area. I stocked up on little cranks all in natuaral colors. Look us up if you are in the area. We like the islands around 9 and 10. I will have all of the grandkids; so, it will be noisy.

    DP,

You can almost ALWAYS catch a crappie by fishing the west side of 9!

I was out today and trolled RRs, then straight jigs/minnows (drifting) and then bandits--all for nought.

I was on the lake at 5:30am and caught a 13-incher the very first timber I came to at Mountain Harbor. I thought I was gonna fill the boat.

I then went into Pollard creek and nosed around in there, looking for suspended fish. I found a few camped out in 17 fow right on a break from the bottom going to a bluff.

Caught three more and that was it. Did an hour's worth of dock shootin' with nary a hit. The two quarts of iced water were now history and and so was I. I booked at 3:30pm.

I found a bunch o' fish stacked up on brush piles but could not get their attention even after throwing everything at them but the kitchen sink.

I think I'm gonna stay home for a few days and get caught up on the honey-dos.

    aj
