    Smile Night Fishing / Lights

Get you a couple of bright headlights and some thick stra-foam. Cut out a hole in the stra-foam and use a bracket to keep the light from falling thru and hook it to a 12 volt battery.

I would advise placing it in the water before it gets too hot or before you hook it up. Just allow them to float on top.

The green underwater lights, I have never used. The headlights and an old coleman lantern hanging from a snag or a couple of lanterns and fish around the ring displayed on the water, just inside the dark shallows.

My Dad always placed the boat away from the lights, but close enough to fish inside the circle--minnows will be everywhere in the light. Many guys bait the spot.

I was wondering what you do about the bugs during the night this time of year?

Insect spray---Plus keep the lights away from the boat, stay in the dimly lighted area. My boat, I have hook-ups for orange tail lights that shine pretty good inside the boat. Place them where you do not have to stare at them, but still provide a dim light to see bye.

    DP,

The bugs can be beat by using submersible lights. I have not been this year yet but am getting the urge. I'm not going at ALL during the heat wave. It's just no fun.

    Maybe tomorrow--at daylight. :D

Agree with the submersible lights. After it gets completely dark almost all bugs are gone.

I have got to get a submersible light. I'll have one by the weekend. I have been using the cheap floating lights and have been very happy with the results. I never have any problems with bugs, however I always have a can of bug spray in my boat and I use it. It keeps the bloodsuckers away.

rope lights, leds , on a switch around the inside of the bow. i think a foot switch like the bright switch on an older car would be the way to go!

my wife came up with a small power inverter something like 350watts and this weekend I will use it with one of those yellow compact flour. lights since it will only be pulling somthing like 6 watts. I just use it with one of those clamp on lights that u can get a walmart in the hardware section
