I ran 2 strokes for 30 years before I bought a boat with a Mercury 4 -stroke. They are not fast but I didn't buy it for speed. Most dependable motor and easiest to maintain as any motor I've ever had. You are going to like that motor. Good looking rig.

The new 4 strokes are just as fast on the top end as the old 2's. Not as quick out of the hole, but getting much better with the high output engines. Fuel economy is waaaaay better now.
