    Default Boat question

Recently bought a new 17' aluminum boat. I fish a lot by myself and find it necessary to pull the boat up on the bank to park the truck. Because not all ramps have a good place to do that, I can see right now that I need a keel guard. Question is, can you put a keel guard on an aluminum boat? If so, what would be the best brand to buy? Thanks in advance for any help you guys can give me.

You can do a google search on keel guards or keel protectors and find anything you need to know about them, that are pricy but what isn't anymore, you can even watch a YouTube video on how to install the keel guard, I think it's a good investment for anyone wanting to take care of their rig !!!!

Thanks, guys. Hate to bang up the keel on a new boat on some of the places I put it.

    Default Boat question

What kind of boat is it?

The hull has to be 75 degrees before you can properly put one on. I do it all the time on aluminum hulls, but mostly of the Xpress pad boats.

I've used both Keel Shield and Keel Guard.

It's a 17' Xpress pad ride hull, Bill. I thought I read somewhere recently that you couldn't put one on an aluminum boat. Thanks.

Ski have a 16-48 alum craft carry an old 14-15 in tire to pull boat up on to keep from scratching or denting.Works great and makes good fish cover if you forget it.

It's a great hull to put one on. They work fine on these boats. I do them all the time in warmer weather or a heated shop.
