    Default Westside Marine Review

I wanted to give a brief review of a marine repair shop in central Arkansas. Chad McCormick at Westside Marine is one heck of a mechanic who has unparalleled customer service. We recently took our electrofishing boat to Chad for some routine maintenance. On our first night of electrofishing we started having some issues with engine overheating. I called Chad the next morning and he walked me through how to diagnose the issue, even though he was very busy. After we determined that the boat needed to go back to the shop, he dropped everything that he was working on to fix the problem. He did this out in the rain and with a smile on his face. Chad is the man! I highly recommend anyone who needs routine maintenance or more serious work on their boat, to look up Chad at Westside Marine (501)868-8707. You will not be disappointed.

Matt sorry but my experience wasn't as good as yours. I called chad regarding some issues with my Yamaha 115 four stroke. He told me he didn't have a computer to diagnose it but would call me back in a day or so as he would try to locate one. Never heard back from him. Honesty was good up front but follow through lacked! I waited two days and then decided to try find someone else. I wanted to give him business since crappie Greg and crappie pro recommended him too.

Not all mechanics can work on four stroke motors like they can the two strokers!

Took it to Spencer's marine here in pine bluff and they said they checked my motor but couldn't find nothing wrong with it. Even checked the tps which I suspected was bad or needed adjusted per Internet search and service bulletin I showed them regarding issue. Wasted trip there!

Arkansas marine was even worse. Talked with me on phone and said my engine issue was due to coming off plane too fast and it was common on that outboard! Really, an Internet search revealed the problem was occurring with what the fix was for it. Took it to a local dealer and they fixed it but was honest with me that they don't really work on engines my size. It was the tps that needed adjusting. Anyways, just fyi for some folks to be carful where you take the newer 4 stroke engines to be worked on.

Cycle and marine in pine bluff was honest with me and fixed my problem. They did have to call Yamaha and get tech support from them but told me of that too. They will get my business again as they have the ability to diagnose the big motors.

I'm sorry to hear that your experience wasn't as good JW. Our work boats are all 60hp or smaller, so that is all that I can speak about from experience. All I know is that Chad has done a great job on our motors. Thanks for your input JW.

I have been satisfied with his service. I have had some problems with his security. maybe that has improved over the last year. DP

Not saying he isn't stand up guy blackfish! Just saying his follow through lacked and kept me waiting when I could've had boat in another shop.

I would make sure that who ever you goto if you have a bigger 4 stroke that the shop can fix it before taking it to them. Was my experience lately some say they can but in reality they can't and you waste time dealing with them. Waited a month for Spencer's to get the necessary stuff to work on my motor and then finally find out they couldn't get it unless sending there tech to school.

Just my experiences with chad wasn't all positive.

The tps (throttle position sensor) needed adjusted. My motor would die when throttling down off plane.
