I think it can be harvested, but not manipulated as far as mowing to attract birds. Pro's probably need to weigh in on this to be sure. Go get yourself the worst combine you can find to harvest with

"residue from normal harvesting operations" is fine. Cutting it down and letting it lay will get you thrown under the jail.

You can look on the AGFC website. According to it you can bush hog it, and still hunt it.

Manipulations – Unharvested fields may be mowed, shredded, disked, rolled, chopped, trampled, burned or treated with herbicides. These fields may be hunted legally for doves.Hogging down – Livestock may be allowed to graze on harvested and unharvested grain. These fields may be hunted legally for doves.Food plots – It is legal to plant food plots, provided that grains grown for wildlife management purposes are not harvested then returned to the field.

These regulations are for dove. It would be illegal for ducks and others.

As long as it was planted in an agricultural manner and no grain was returned to the the field you are good to go. We've done it forever and some years would have a state warden look at it before we shot it. The Feds can override the state but we never had any problems.

Just don't harvest and return to field and your good. Might ought to invite me to check it out with my gun opening morning.
