Sunday Morning Manna
"What Made America Great"

What made America great has done a disappearing act.
2 Cor. 3:17 17Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.
What made America great was not capitalism. Our nation's political stability and prosperity came from the preaching of the Gospel and the fear of God.
Our Liberty Bell hanging at the Independence Hall in Philadelphia has this part of Leviticus 25:10 inscribed on it
"proclaim liberty throughout all the land unto all the inhabitants thereof"
Now look at verse 17, "17Ye shall not therefore oppress one another; but thou shalt fear thy God: for I am the LORD your God."
What has happened in America? Our government has become more and more oppressive. The liberty that our forefathers placed in our constitution was for citizens who governed themselves responsibly in the fear of the Lord. Thirteen colonies rebelled under the tyranny of George III and won their independence after the Lord saturated those colonies with preaching for forty years. The Great Awakening under Whitfield, Wesley and others prepared the colonists to become self-governing. Capitalism had nothing to do with it.
All economic systems are instruments in the Lord's hand to prosper or debilitate a nation as He sees fit. Regardless of what party is in power in Washington, D.C., our decline as a nation is irreversible. Proverb 9:10 says " 10The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: " and as Americans we have lost our way.
Thomas Jefferson wrote that the government which governs lest governs best. That is a true statement but it's true of a society that recognizes God is holy and is to be feared. The fear of God is gone in America. Our government is becoming more oppressive, it's placing more and more hardships and rules on it's citizens and before long, we will have hate speech laws enforced against Bible-believing preachers.
America is the second most hated nation on the planet, with Israel being number 1. Not because of our economic success, but because of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior. And even though we as a nation have turned our back on God and kicked Him out of our government other nations still see us as evil. I believe God is through with America and about to turn His back on us.
America as we know it will soon be gone. My question is what are we going to do? How will we get through the next few years ? Who and what are you going to trust to get you through ? How about GOD! He may not bless America but He still loves His children and He will still watch over His SHEEP. Are you one of HIS ?
Psalm 56:9-11 " 9 When I cry unto thee, then shall mine enemies turn back: this I know; for God is for me.
10 In God will I praise his word: in the LORD will I praise his word.
11 In God have I put my trust: I will not be afraid what man can do unto me "
