Hi, all! Just dropping by and want to share i found it very advantageous to swapping spinning reel spool, especially when its cost prohibitive. JDM spools are expensive but not as expensive as buying another reel just to use different lines( Braid vs Ester vs Fluorocarbon, etc. ) I also found out by switching spool one can save up to 10g off the reel, like this 13 Daiwa Certate with 17 Presso Ltd spool:
These reels spools are 5g apart. Like Randy says in one of his YouTube videos, "10g might not be a lot", but to a finesse angler it's enough.
I on the other hand I don't mind the esthetics as well:
Lastly the biggest advantage for me is being able to use these spools on a saltwater capable reel body like my venerable 13 Daiwa Certate with Magsealed bearings when heading towards the beach. Thanks for reading!

May I also add that Daiwa spool interchangeable is awesome! Shimano's on the other hand, are a little challenging to find what is or not.
With the exception of the Shimano Soare XR 500sspg , the rest of the 500 size spools will interchange.
The Sahara , the Nasci , and the Soare bb 500 reels will all swap .
I use the Sahara and Nasci spools on my Soare bb’s when I feel I need a little more line capacity.
The Soare shallow spools are very shallow and don’t hold much line .
When bank fishing big reservoirs , I’ve hooked hybrids and some spotted bass that would have spooled me with the shallow spools using 2# line .
I spool the shallow spools with braid and use the deeper spools for my 2# Floroclear.

Very nice to know, Gillchaser. My only 3 Shimanos are 19 Ultegra 1000, 20 Twin power c2000s and a 14 Stella 1000, all won't interchange due to some being "long-stroke" , wide, narrow or combination of both...lol. However last year, through some research, I managed to find a 16 Shimano Stradic (discontinued) Ci4+ c2000s and 1000 spools @ $50 each that fit the Stella like a glove because of same Shimano angle body design. Purchased used, the Stella came with $30 Varivas PE line I'm not willing to part with and since Stella spools cost same or more than most Shimano reel price, it's a no brainer on my part. Thanks chiming in, Sir!

I miss the days when reels came with a free spool all the time. When I bought my 1000 Stella in 2004 I looked for a spare spool and it was over $100 back then. Passed on the spare spool.
