Even though it was 43 degrees when I left the house around 9:30 this morning, I wanted to wet a line and hopefully catch a fish on my 5’6” Daiwa Gekkabijin Ajing Rod.
I paired it up with a Daiwa Legalis LT 2000S , spooled with 3# P-Line Flouroclear .
Even cold , the wind was light and it was sunny .
I tried a Trout Magnet for a few casts without any luck and switched to the lure that worked best yesterday, a Bobby Garland Itty Bitty Slab Hunter in Cajun Cricket on a 1/64 TM head .
About the third cast I felt a tick and set the hook into a nice bluegill . A nice start !
Fished almost two hours and finally caught two small gills to go with the biggie .
I think the overnight cold temps just slowed the fish down until the sun had a chance to warm the water back up .
I’m sure this afternoon would be better but , we fish when we can go .
I like the rod . It will work great for jigging Trout Magnets and for swimming jigs.
