I’ve been trying to go SOS #2 as my go to line .
It’s a lot cheaper than 2# P-line and a little stronger .
But I found there was a price to pay .
I wasn’t getting the distance with the SOS I was getting with P-line especially with the lighter jigs .
Last night, I stripped off about 100 yards of SOS and filled my new Daiwa Tatula lt 2000 with 2# P-line . I also swapped rods to my 5’ St Croix Premier ULM . A moderate action rod that makes every fish feel like a monster .
This morning, I was back at the Town pond .
I began with a pink 1/64 jighead and a shortened Slider body in smoke glitter with a dyed chartreuse tail .
It didn’t take but a couple casts and I caught a very nice bluegill. My best one in awhile .
I fished the Slider until the bites stopped and switched to June bug Trout Magnet and because the wind was picking up , a pink 1/32 jighead . Which proved to be a good move .
I ended up catching seven gills , three shellcracker and one small green trout . Best two hours in awhile .
Was it the line ? You can’t convince it wasn’t . I was fishing water I wasn’t getting to with the SOS and I believe the action of the lures was better .
Some of the better ones .
