    Default Baitcasting crappie?

I'm looking into ordering another Aldeberan BFS to build a finesse crappie setup. Anyone using baitcasters for crappie?

I bought the Kastking Zephyr. I intend to use it for all panfishing. I haven’t tried it yet, plan on heading out to my favorite pond this weekend and give it a whirl.

Hi texican89, although i haven't caught a crappie just yet, only fishing from bank, I love using my Shimano BFS conquest pair with either customized 5' berkley lightning rod or the Asian Kuying teton 6 foot casting UL rod and have great success catching gills and even catfish casting down to 1/8 oz. Cheers!

I have a couple of the KastKing Zephyr BFS reels .
I haven’t fish for crappies with them . Mostly bass with ultralight rods , 6# P-line and 1/16 beetlespins .
Since my discovery of the drop shot , I can see myself trying to catch a few bluegills with my BFS outfits .

Gillchaser, drop shot is one of my go to rig as a shore angler especially for heavier weights for distance. Under 2 grams jighead bouncing then I'll go with UL or even Xul JDM rod for that. Cheers!

Yes, casting distance for the shore angler can be very important. The drop shot can provide this and still be stealthy once in the water. Adaptations of other drop-shot like rigs could be used too, depending on the situation - Gika rig, Tokyo rig, or the Scrappy-Doo Rig as shown in the video below. Seems these would be good for fishing close to the bottom.

I think you will find this article interesting. Fair warning, hanging out at this website has caused me to spend WAY more that I should have on tackle.
