I'm a big fan of super sharp hooks and with the new wave of jigs out these days with the .5 grams, 1 gram and 1.5 gram jigs some folks on here have been raving about I want to dig a little deeper on this subject. I've been pouring my own jigs for almost 20 years in a variety of size and weights. Does anyone know what kind of hooks they are using on these jig heads? I have been looking at hooks under a 60x microscope and 80% look great with the only difference I can see is the wire diameter and size of the barbs. A thinner wire hook with a small barb will obviously penetrate better than a hook with a larger diameter wire and bigger barb because there is less resistance. I'd like to hear what some of you think about this. Since I don't have any of these jigs to compare with I would like for someone to send me 2-3 heads with different size hooks, head size doesn't matter. I will send them back to you when I'm finished as well as some of my jig heads for you to have and compare. Let me know once you fish them how they compare.
