Congratulations on the new rod GA Tech dude, give the 2lb Nanofil a shot, it will cast like a rocket and that rod should handle it. Mono is a safe bet, very forgiving.

I haven't had any problems with Varivas Area Super Trout Master Limited 2.3 lb...I've had it on my rod for almost a year...When Alphahawk says don't over spool he was right...my reel holds 200 meters of 2.5 lb, I put 140 meters of 2.3 lb on it and its near perfect..."Less Line the better it preforms"...I put 2.5 lb of the Sunline Night Blue that Alphahawk was talking about on my new Exist 1025 that is also very nice line it casts great and a lot more visible than I thought it would be...I have 3 JDM rods all of them are Mebaru rods...
I'll try the Varivas again later - I have a couple more spools of it. I did love the visibility of the orange color. I want to try some different lines anyway (been shopping). For tomorrow I put on 2 lb Trilene Sensation (0.150). Nanofil has been hard to find around here for some reason, and the 2 lb stuff stays sold out at my favorite shops. I want to find a good hi-viz 2 lb mono but can't seem to find anything under 4 lb in the good colors.
Today was a little windy, makes it harder to feel strikes, and I'm a line watcher anyway, which works well when the wind has a bow in your line..Tomorrow should be a tad less wind. The Trilene is much harder to see than a hi-viz line. Looking forward to round 2 with the Ice Cube 69P tomorrow.
I can't find it anywhere. Let me look online... brb
Got on some stacked crappie this morning with the Ice Cube, and gave the rod a real workout! I had re-spooled the Luvias with Trilene 2 lb Sensation last night, and it performed flawlessly, except I couldn't hardly see it. Didn't matter with this rod, I distinctly felt every fish take the bait, either a thump, sudden weight, or absence of weight. Fish were up shallow over grass, and you had to run the jig just right; too slow and you were dredging green weeds, too fast and no bite. I was using a 1.5 g Daiwa gekkabijin jig with trout magnet (thanks, Randy!), and the rig got it done big time, yes sir, it did. I filled my cooler slap full, and one fish was 2lb 4oz, a new PB for me! The Tict Ice Cube Rockin' Power felt great, and casted that jig a mile. Best day casting jigs for crappie, ever!
