We camped in Guntersville at the park a few weeks ago and I did a bunch of crappie fishing. The grass was noticeable but it didn’t seem to affect my fishing much. Or would it have been a lot better without it?

Well it’s according to how well you did on catching ! Lol. It’s a lot worse up river from mid lake up even though they are some creeks down river that’s choked up with it pretty bad ! They have been gathering the loose eel grass around mid lake out on the river for a while and removing it from the lake but that’s not helping much . It usually depends on how much current there is and which way the wind is blowing as to how bad it is . it’s really bunching up in the creeks now that the hydrilla/milfoil is topping out causing the eel gras to mat up in masses because it can’t flow through the emerged grass! With little to no current until recently Every eddy out on the river is generally choked up with it ! It’s usually pilled up on about every boat ramp that you go too until some rakes it out of the way !
Too blessed to be stressed!
Mostly caught in Town Creek. Didn’’t do very well. I’’m used to the Tombigbee and plenty of cover…

I was there in a stick steer boat and rode all the way about to the bat cave and all the way to the marina by Dairy Queen a different day. It was rough. The boat leaks worse than it did now. :-)

I Always wanted to fish the Tombigbee! Just never put the time in to figure where was the safest place on it to start !
Guntersville can humble a fellow for sure especially in the summer time ! I can go to a non grass lake in the summer and due fairly well ! But I suck on the big G from late June until mid/late September!

Well come on down! I’ll put you on some crappie. Or I’ll try. :-) Friend of mine came here and limited out on a Friday and again on Saturday morning. I think that may have been in May or June so already fairly warm.
