Default Location question relating to size?

I don't have a lot of Crappie fishing experience and I'm trying to learn. Question is do crappie group by size or do they just mix up? Example if I catch 2 or 3 shorts should I move on till I find bigger ones or keep hoping the next one at this spot is bigger?

Do bigger crappie move up or down differently than smaller ones this time of year?

Are there certain structure or bottom features to focus on this time of year?

I've caught two or three shorts, then a 15-inch Crappie off the same laydown. If the lake, pond or river holds various size fish it doesn't seem to matter in my experience. There are some bodies of water that don't have a good spawn every year, in those areas you might catch all little ones or only large fish.

Waiting to see responses!!!But in my little bit of luck I think they mix. I’ve caught both in the same spot.

Sometimes the bigger ones may be a little deeper.

Like said above, just fish a tad deeper. I think the big ones let the little ones feed first haha
