Been awhile since I’ve posted. Still catching them here, they r very spooky, will pull up to some and catch one then they scatter. Hit it this evening and kept 21 for a buddy, had to make a little change from the color jig I’ve been catching them on and that made a big difference, they attacked it this evening. The cage was this evening and some pic from the past couple of days to boot.

I’m not a livescope kind of person. Have no problem if that’s what you want but not me. But maybe I’m a hypocrite because I will ask questions. Lol. My question is and I’ve always wondered if catching one and it carries on will it make them scatter??You pretty much answered it. How long does it take them to come back??

Crappie are hard to pattern and always changing in my experience. I look to find the baitfish, then the depth, then the color or action they want. Sometimes you can catch them all day in the same spot, other times it's one here and one there. The god news if you can find the depth and color usually many of the fish in the same area will fall victim to the tactic. If you notice when I report what I caught my fish on, I may have tried a dozen things until I get on a pattern. Once I do I'm constantly moving catching the active fish. Maybe I have ADHD but I seldom spend more than a few minutes in one spot or laydown. After a couple cast or dips with a jig pole I move on. Just my![]()

That’s the main thing I learned the day I went with you. When I go to a spot I have in mind where I want to fish. If I catch one or two especially I’m bad about not wanting to leave. But I saw how you would catch one and if not another soon you were gone. I still have that problem but am trying to get better about it.

Its according what day it is lol. I have hit piles with the scope and caught them and they never seemed to spook, it actually seem like it fired them up when the first couple were caught. Then some days when you catch one they will either scatter from the pile, or stay there and not bite. I wish I knew, Id catch more crappie lol.
Damion Kidd thanked you for this post
I came to Crappie fishing (except during the easy days of spring) late in life. I spent 20 years fishing for bass where you target mostly specific cover with a bait and pull one or two and done. When I started fishing for Crappie I used and refined some of the same tactics, just different baits. That's one of the reasons I've always caught so many Crappie in skinny water where many struggle. I pull a single fish from a shady spot or next to a laydown and start back moving, much like bass fishing. May not work for everyone, but it's my niche and always keeps the freezer full.
