I don't think one's gonna come up from under a boat or yak. The only one I ever got on top of was while bowfishing. We were in about 18" of water and didn't see the gator. It rocked the 18x60 flat bottom pretty good when it swam right down the center of it.

Not in Alabama, but I've had Gators surface within feet of me in Georgia. Scared them as bad as me and they explode taking off covering me in water.

Nothing better than a little excitement
