Kayak Trip Report, Limestone Creek
I floated Limestone Creek today from Huntsville Brownsferry to Old Hwy 20. First, the float was a beast! There was a little to much current and the water was cloudy with visibility of about 18 inches and 63 degrees at 7:30AM. I had to drag around 6 different spots where down trees blocked the creek. I'm seriously starting to think I'm getting to old for this
.
The good news is the fish were biting, I caught just about every fish native to the Tennessee valley today (Largemouth, Smallmouth, Redeye Bass, Spotted Bass, Goggle Eye, Crappie, Gar, Carp, Redhorse Sucker, Channel Catfish, Chain Pickerel, Yellow Perch, Strip, Bluegill, Redbreast, Pumpkin Seed, Green Sunfish, Stumpknocker and Shellcracker. All were caught on a 1/32oz spinner with a 1" slider in pink and Chartreuse. I ended up keeping half a limit of large Redbreast and a hand full of Crappie. I left around 5PM with the fish still biting and both thumps almost bleeding from all the fish I lipped! Wonderful day on the water, even with all the trees I had to ford around.
Pictures tomorrow, too tired to clean fish tonight.
