    Default Guntersville kicks my butt...

Decided to try lower end of Gville Saturday. That was the wrong decision on my part. Bait fish were everywhere and after 5 hours of fishing I caught 0 fish. Had to go to Wheeler Sunday afternoon to catch some and make myself feel a little better.

thanks to TVA dropping the water a full 2 ft during the coldest weather it has stunned them and moved them away from the bank. They have started back biting as of this morning from the bank but slower

I am still relatively new to crappie fishing. I may be wrong but I’ve thought a lot about this in the past week. My thinking is that if somebody got good and consistent at catching crappie year round on Guntersville, not relying on bridges for catching fish, that they would be good on any lake in the country. Now I may be wrong but that big ol lake has sure been hard for me to figure out except spring and early summer

I guess the last time I remember going out to catch a crappie and came home empty handed was about 5 years ago on Guntersville in early February. It can be a humbling time when you don't really want to get around the bridges. It was a pretty day though and was just great to get back out on the water.

Oh, and I hate this eel grass!!! Crap was floating on top everywhere. Looked like some one had been weed eating! Did not realize it stayed so green in the winter.

Yes the eel grass is bad stuff. Most of the time the only thing that would have hit my jigs while trolling was a grass carp.
