Todays Slab

Thanks guys and thanks Phillip, that’s quite a compliment. I guess I’m returning to my first love and that’s fishing. And regarding the catching of the fish..... Jason (the guy with me yesterday) and Mitchell are both nice guys. They’ll let me reel one of theirs in about every once and a while, every 10th fish or so that way I don’t forget how to use a reel.

I tried my best to make another “Todays Slab” post today but no crappie were sore mouthed this evening. We were trying some new water. All we caught were yellow bass. I rank them one step above getting hung on a tree limb. Honestly, I’ve never seen more baitfish on the surface and on the fish finder in any one area than I saw today but there just weren’t any game fish to speak of feedeing on them. Sometimes there would be 40-50 schools swimming at the surface within sight of the boat.

Apparently TVA is trying to kill back the grass somewhat because both the creek we fished today and the one we fished yesterday had been sprayed. There was a notice posted on the pier yesterday about the spraying and in the creek we fished today, we pulled jigs in places that had matted grass on them in early June. I hope they aren’t going hog wild with the spraying like they did back in the 80’s.

Glad you was able to get out today! I saw the same thing today as I passed over several of the causeways fish chasing bait everywhere ! I have also noticed that a lot of places that’s usually matted up don’t have any grass that’s surfaced in that area. Hum! Wonder what’s up with dat!

I can vouch for FURFLYN he can catch fish!

Coach, anybody can catch a big fish, it takes skill to get a jig or crankbaits into one that ain’t any longer than the bait

Fur one of these days before long its going to cool off and me and you going to go get em. Its too hot for me and the fishing is too slow right now.

I'm ready. The bait fish are ready. The crappie haven't moved up in any numbers yet and we got lucky with 2 cloudy, cool days this week. It's hotter than a firecracker today. If the water temp will get down in the upper 70's I think it will be on like Donkey Kong. I am somewhat concerned about the amount of spraying that TVA is doing. I surely hope they aren't doing it lake wide. I complain about trying to fish the grass and the floating clumps of grass all over the river channel in the summer, but the grass is what makes the fishing so great.

People been worried about spray for years. Fur they are not going to spray the whole lake. Cost of chemicals would be astronomical. They spray in areas where commercial navigation is an issue and around homes and docks. Big money people like you with fine lakefront homes get sprayed. I know people will come on here with all types of spraying horror stories but trust me My childhood friend of 60yrs is over the aquatic vegetation eradication program and he keeps me informed. We gonna be ok Fur
