Weiss trip reults
I am an Ohio boy and just returned from the fine state of Alabama and Weiss Lake. What a great crappie lake. We arrived 3/14 to sunny 70 degree weather and it got worse and windy through Saturday. Fished Cowan Creek and surrounding area. Wednesday, the surface temp was 66 degrees in 5'-7- water and the crappie were lighting it up about 2' deep. We casted mostly chartreuse twister tail grubs and some blue and yellow combos on 1/32 and 1/16 ounce jigs. When we left Saturday, the water temp was down to around 57 degrees and VERY windy. Still in two and a half days, we managed 93 keepers, even with the arrival of the cold front. Also caught and released semingly a hundred fish around 9 3/4" long. I posted a few pics on the Main Forum if anyone is interested. We caught almost all the fish casting jigs to shallow cover and structure. After the front there were some caught longlining over and around drop offs and channels.
